As of January 1, 2016, selectmen meetings will air live ONLY on Comcast 98 or Verizon 24. Meetings held in either the Great Hall or the Yaitanes Room at Town Hall can be shown live on this government channel. Replays of these meetings can also be seen on Comcast 98/Verizon 24.
Meetings that take place at Stoughton High, like the school committee or town meeting, will still be shown live on Comcast 6/Verizon 26, but replays will be shown on the government channel, Comcast 98/Verizon 24. Meetings will no longer be shown on Comcast 9/Verizon 28, but still tune into this channel for some great community programming. "All of us at SMAC are excited about the addition of the Government Channel. We are continually growing and look forward to providing the town of Stoughton with even more programming and coverage," SMAC Station Manager Michael Hammond said. The signal on SMAC's Comcast channels has also been upgraded to match the quality/clarity of picture seen on SMAC's Verizon channels. "We are glad to be able to provide an improved signal for our Comcast subscribers," SMAC Program and News Director Jeffrey Pickette said. "The addition of the government channel gives Stoughton residents our own version of C-SPAN. More meetings will be shown live and replays will be able to be shown throughout the day for anyone looking to catch up on the latest developments from one of the various board meetings in town. Meanwhile, those residents who already watch the talk shows, cooking shows, special events or sports programming we produce on our public access and education channels will still be able to do so."
